One part of the course deals with biogeochemical cycles and having a basic understanding of Redox reactions will really help you to follow this course.
This quiz also contains an example of an open question that introduces you to linking general physical and biological processes that you can try to answer if you want. That question is no prerequisite, but it is a nice way for your professor to get an idea of your writing style before the course starts and they might give you some more tips on how to answer such questions in the introductory lecture.
